WRITING PROGRAM

CHILDREN’S COMMUNITY SCHOOL • AMY YARBROUGH

VIRTUAL

Prose explains, but poetry sings! This year, Teaching Artist Amy Yarbrough will guide students at CCS through the creative exploration of language, while providing and structuring an atmosphere where few rules apply and flexibility is encouraged. A virtual classroom will allow students in small groups of in-school or distance learners, to get curious, ask questions, test boundaries, and have fun with images and words.

In this program CCS students will learn that writing is about sharing with the reader an experience or strong feelings and to “paint pictures with words” chosen for their sounds and beauty as well as their meaning. Students are allowed the freedom to be successful and find a connection with their world, with each other and with language of the written word, spoken word and aural word.
