‘The essence of all beautiful art, all great art, is gratitude.’ -Friedrich Nietzsche
This year, it’s been more challenging than ever to connect in the ways we are used to. We don’t get to hug our friends, or high five our teachers. Familiar places we used to go are shuttered. So, how do we keep the connection with each other, and with the places we love, alive? One of the most amazing ways to connect is through expressing gratitude. Gratitude is another word for being thankful. Have you ever been so excited to see your mom, your cousin, or your friend that you jumped and shouted with joy? That’s gratitude! Ever gotten to the parking lot of your favorite park or restaurant and ran as fast as you could to get there? That’s gratitude! In the Together We Connect: Gratitude mural, we’re going to practice expressing gratitude–or thankfulness–from afar. That is, we’re going to think of something or someone we’re thankful for, and paint them a picture. That picture is going to be displayed on the mural at CCS for all the world to see
