MARIA CAMPBELL

Maria B. Campbell is the founder and president of Maria B. Campbell Associates, Inc. and Maria B. Campbell Associates UK Ltd. A graduate of Smith College, Maria began her career in publishing as an assistant to the editorial representative in the New York office of Arnoldo Mondadori Editore, the Italian publisher.

In 1987, Maria formed Maria B. Campbell Associates, a company dedicated to scouting books for international publishers. Adding to this, MBCA began working for Amblin, Steven Spielberg’s production company and developed a book to film expertise. This led to scouting for Dreamworks SKG and for Kennedy Marshall. In 2000, the company became the global book scout for Warner Bros. and in 2017 was hired in a similar capacity by Netflix.

Maria was one of the founding board members of Words Without Borders, an online monthly magazine dedicated to publishing international writers in English and the Treasurer of Pen American where she served on the executive committee for 10 years. She is currently on the boards of the Center for Fiction, the only such center in the U.S. and of Pilobolus, an internationally acclaimed dance company, renowned for its unique, diverse collaborative performances.
