GLOBAL HAND PERCUSSION
GRADES 6-12

Students will join award-winning teaching artist and acclaimed percussionist John Marshall to experience the joy of learning through music and rhythm. John will guide participants in global hand percussion and rhythmic awareness, demonstrating rhythms from all around the world on indigenous instruments such as the djembe, the doumbek, the steel drum and West African xylophones. Each participant will have the opportunity to play one of these authentic instruments while learning traditional songs and ensemble patterns together as a group.
