ACTING UP
LITCHFIELD INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL

This theatre workshop teaches individual expression through collaborative creation. Students learn the basics of creating short plays through improvisation. They explore vocal and physical possibilities to develop original characters and scenes. With guidance from ASAP! teaching artists students generate dynamic scenes and learn the joy of telling a story with a clear beginning, middle, and end. Also, participants learn when to modify or let go of their own ideas in service of the group as a whole. Through this experience, participants build confidence to speak in front of a group and share their individual ideas in an articulate way. Ultimately, students gain skills to create their own performances from scratch about any idea they’d like. This program typically culminates in a school-wide performance.
