ASAP! Summer Camp has been a trusted part of our community for 26 years, and draws diverse youth in grades 1-10 from across Northwest CT. It runs from August 3-14, 9am-3:30pm in Washington, CT. Professional teaching artists lead visual, culinary, and performing arts activities, balancing structure with the freedom kids need to explore and take creative risks. Camp Counselors
Interested in having a fun, meaningful summer while working with young artists? We’re hiring Counselors to help create a safe and joyful environment for our summer campers.
Counselors support daily camp activities, connect with students throughout the day, and help build a positive, inclusive community. You’ll work closely with teaching artists and staff to keep campers engaged, supported, and having fun.
We’re looking for responsible, energetic, and caring individuals who enjoy working with children and teens in a creative setting. Prior experience in camps, schools, or youth programs is helpful but not required. Must be 18+ to apply.
Skills:
- Leading your camp group with kindness and firm boundaries
- Building social cohesion through games, play, and leadership
- Attending to campers’ individual social and physical needs, and calling for support when needed
- Cleaning and maintaining shared spaces and supplies
Qualifications:
- 18+ years of age
- Available for all training and camp dates
- Experience working with children aged 6-16
- Ability to lift 10lbs
- Pass the CT OEC background check
- Reliable transportation to and from camp location in Washington, CT
- Effective communication skills (verbal and written)
- Previous camp counselor experience a plus
- Cultural sensitivity experience or training a plus
Compensation: $16.94/hr
First Aid Director
The First Aid Director will help respond to minor injuries and health needs that arise during camp activities, support general wellness checks, and serve as a calm, reliable presence for both students and staff. This is a great opportunity for individuals with basic first aid or CPR training who are looking to gain hands-on experience working in a youth-focused educational and arts environment.
Throughout the summer, you’ll work closely with camp directors and teaching artists to help ensure that health and safety procedures are followed and that students can fully engage in programming with confidence and care.
We are looking for someone who is attentive, responsible, and comfortable working with children and teens in an active, creative setting. Prior experience in camps, schools, or youth programs is a plus but not required.
