This summer Tristan attended the Pratt Institute Summer Program in Brooklyn, NY.
Tristan has been interested in visual art since he was a child, specifically cartooning, but also has experience in drawing and sculpture. Tristan says he draws inspiration from the people around him and their personalities, analyzing character traits then amplifying them into caricatures. His favorite part of visual art is its ability to convey certain messages or pose philosophical questions about life. He views cartoons as a way to visually express what he sees and experiences.
Tristan describes his Pratt experience as “an enriching artistic and personal development”, giving him the opportunity to work with new mediums and study works in both the Met and the MoMA. He was taught new techniques but also given the freedom to work on what he likes to do. Tristan thanks ASAP for not only the grant, but also their reassurance and support.
